Overview:

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Defect Manager to lead defect management activities across various test phases of a large-scale program. You will work closely with the Program Test Manager, Test Leads, development teams, and third-party vendors to ensure efficient defect triaging, resolution, and reporting. The ideal candidate will bring a strong QA background, deep understanding of defect lifecycle management, and experience with modern automation tools and methodologies.

Key Responsibilities
Lead the defect management process across all testing phases (functional, non-functional, UAT, etc.)
Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure timely resolution of defects
Define and continuously improve the defect management process, including SLAs, prioritization, and communication protocols
Triage and assign defects to the appropriate teams, tracking progress until closure
Monitor and report on defect trends and KPIs, delivering actionable insights to stakeholders and leadership
Provide regular risk assessments and communicate critical issues or blockers promptly
Conduct root cause analysis and recommend preventative actions to reduce defect recurrence
Facilitate regular defect triage calls and produce status updates for leadership
Ensure alignment between testing cycles, development priorities, and defect resolution efforts

Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in defect management
Proven experience managing defects across functional, non-functional, and business acceptance phases
Experience in Agile and V-Model development/testing methodologies
Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, TFS; DevOps toolchain integration is a plus
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-prioritization of defects from various workstreams
Strong understanding of defect severity/priority classification and lifecycle
Proficiency with QE automation tools such as Selenium, Tosca, or TestNG (mandatory)
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
High attention to detail, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities


Preferred/Bonus Skills
Experience with observability/logging/monitoring tools such as Kafka, Splunk, and Dynatrace
Background in enterprise-level QA governance or test strategy design
Familiarity with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD practices
