Job Description: Cassandra DB Modeler

Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cassandra DB Modeler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database design, data modeling, and expertise in Apache Cassandra. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data models to support scalable, high-performance applications. This role requires a deep understanding of NoSQL databases, distributed systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with development and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement efficient, scalable, and maintainable data models for Apache Cassandra.
Collaborate with application developers, architects, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into effective database schemas.
Optimize existing data models for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Develop and enforce best practices for data modeling, including partitioning, clustering, and indexing strategies.
Perform capacity planning and ensure data distribution across nodes for optimal performance.
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization and tuning.
Work closely with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure proper deployment and configuration of Cassandra clusters.
Document data models, design decisions, and processes for future reference and knowledge sharing.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in NoSQL databases and distributed systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Proven experience as a Database Modeler, Data Architect, or similar role with a focus on Apache Cassandra.
Strong understanding of NoSQL database concepts, including distributed systems, eventual consistency, and CAP theorem.
Proficiency in Cassandra Query Language (CQL) and experience with data modeling tools.
Hands-on experience with performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting in Cassandra.
Familiarity with database security, backup, and recovery processes.
Experience with other NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB) is a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:
Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Knowledge of big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, or Kafka.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).
Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Java.
